Assessment Kills Innovation : Make No Outcome

No Outcome is a bi- weekly workshop run to students at Nottingham Trent University. It was launched from a pedagogic concern that Assessment Kills Innovation and deadens risk taking and playing in student’s work. No Outcome allows the students to play outside of their assessed assignments. No Outcome is interested in how students view assessment – does it help or hinder them to become great designers of the future? No Outcome is interested in the impact of incidental learning through playful practice that takes place in the workshops and questions how a student of today, being treated and feeling evermore as an entitled consumer can take risks and make playful work within the structure of higher education. This blog looks at these topics across education today, not specifically at one university. Posts written by Jenna Lee Alldread, Design Lecturer and Maker.
